BBQ Catering in Cornwall — Proper Charcoal, Proper Cuts, No Messing About
There's a big difference between a BBQ and a good BBQ. Anyone can chuck some cheap sausages on a disposable grill from the petrol station. What we do is something else entirely — premium cuts of locally sourced meat cooked over proper charcoal, homemade sides and salads, and food that makes people come back for seconds and thirds.
Salt Wind Catering BBQ catering is built for outdoor events across Cornwall. Garden parties, weddings, sports club socials, corporate summer dos, beach-adjacent celebrations — anywhere you've got space for us to set up, we'll bring the smoke and the sizzle.
What's on the BBQ?
We tailor every BBQ to the event, but expect proper burgers made from quality mince (not the frozen hockey puck variety), Cornish sausages with actual flavour, marinated chicken, lamb or pork cuts, and whatever else suits the occasion. Everything comes with homemade sides — coleslaws, salads, breads, sauces — all freshly prepared in our Redruth kitchen.
Vegetarian and vegan guests are never an afterthought. We do proper veggie options that people actually want to eat, not a token halloumi kebab while everyone else gets the good stuff.
How Much BBQ Do You Need?
People always worry about running out of food. Don't. We've been doing this long enough to know what works. As a rough guide, we plan for around 300-350g of meat per person, with generous sides on top. For 50 guests that's about 15-18kg of meat plus all the trimmings. For 100, we scale up accordingly. You tell us the numbers, we'll make sure nobody goes hungry.
The beauty of a BBQ is that people graze. They'll have a burger, wander off for a chat, come back for some chicken, grab another sausage later. It keeps the atmosphere relaxed and means your event flows naturally.
Where Does BBQ Catering Work Best?
Anywhere outdoors, basically. Garden parties across Cornwall are our bread and butter in summer. Wedding receptions at country venues and marquee sites. Rugby and cricket club end-of-season events. Corporate team days. Holiday park celebrations. Beach-adjacent parties at Perranporth, Newquay, Hayle, or the south coast. If you've got outdoor space and people to feed, a BBQ is almost always the right call.
We bring all our own equipment — you don't need to provide anything. We set up, cook, and serve. You just need to enjoy the food.
BBQ Plus Something Extra
Some of our best events combine a BBQ with one of our other services. A hog roast alongside a BBQ for a wedding. A giant pan paella as a starter with BBQ mains. Or a BBQ main event with grazing platters for when guests arrive. Mix and match — we'll make it work.
