Catering in Falmouth — Where the Coast Meets a Cracking Party

Falmouth’s a town that knows how to celebrate. Between the harbour, the university, Falmouth Week, the Food Festival on the waterfront, and a summer calendar that doesn’t stop — there’s always something going on. And whether it’s a wedding overlooking the bay at The Greenbank Hotel, a 21st at a rented house up near Gyllyngvase, or a corporate do at the National Maritime Museum on Events Square, the food needs to be as good as the setting.

That’s where we come in. Salt Wind Catering is based in Redruth — about 20 minutes up the road on the A39 — and we’ve been feeding Falmouth events for years. We deliver across the town and surrounding villages for events of every size, from intimate gatherings of 20 to large celebrations for 200 and beyond.

Whether it’s a marquee wedding in a garden overlooking the Carrick Roads, a graduation party at a rented house near Swanpool Beach, or a milestone birthday in a private garden off Melville Road, we bring fresh, handmade food that people actually talk about afterwards. We’re fully self-sufficient — we bring our own kit, cook on-site, and serve. All you need to provide is the guests.

What We Bring to Your Falmouth Event

We’re not a faceless catering company sending lukewarm trays from a depot. Everything we serve is freshly prepared, homemade, and built around proper Cornish ingredients. Here’s what we offer:

Event & Party Buffets

Event & Party Buffets — Our bread and butter. Freshly made platters delivered to your Falmouth venue, whether it’s a holiday cottage in Maenporth, a function room on The Moor, or a hired space at The Poly. Perfect for birthdays, office parties, christenings, and wakes.

Hog Roast Catering

Hog Roast Catering — There’s nothing quite like a whole hog turning slowly on a spit while your guests arrive. We source from trusted local Cornish farms and cook on-site — ideal for summer weddings at Pendennis Castle, garden parties in Budock, or large celebrations at the harbourside hotels. We handle everything — cooking, carving, serving.

BBQ Catering

BBQ Catering — Forget sad sausages. We bring premium charcoal BBQs with proper meats, vibrant sides, and genuine smoke flavour. Great for beach-adjacent parties near Gyllyngvase, garden events in Mawnan Smith, or laid-back receptions at one of the seafront hotels. Not a sad burger in sight.

Giant Pan Catering

Giant Pan Catering — Authentic paella, aromatic curries, and more — cooked live in our giant pans right in front of your guests. It’s theatrical, it smells incredible, and it works brilliantly at outdoor Falmouth events, harbourside parties, and Falmouth Week gatherings.

Grazing Platters & Boards

Grazing Platters — Savoury, sweet, vegetarian, low-gluten, brunch, fruit — we’ve got a platter for every occasion. Delivered across Falmouth and available last-minute, 7 days a week.

Falmouth Venues and Locations We Cover

Whether your event is at a well-known venue or a private home, we handle the logistics so you don’t have to. Falmouth’s not the easiest town to get a catering van into — between the one-way system, the steep hills, and the summer traffic, you need a caterer who’s done it before. Here are some of the Falmouth-area locations we deliver to and set up at:

The Greenbank Hotel

The Greenbank Hotel sits right on the harbour with views across to Flushing. It’s one of Falmouth’s most popular wedding and event venues — the waterfront terrace and function rooms make a stunning setting for hog roasts, BBQs, and buffets for larger celebrations.

Pendennis Castle

Pendennis Castle on the headland is one of the most dramatic event venues in Cornwall. English Heritage hire it out for weddings and private events, and the castle grounds are ideal for outdoor catering setups — hog roasts on the lawn with views across the harbour and out to sea.

Events Square & National Maritime Museum

The open space at Events Square and the National Maritime Museum host Falmouth’s biggest public events, corporate functions, and private hire celebrations. It’s an ideal spot for giant pan catering — the open-air cooking becomes part of the event atmosphere. Also works well for outdoor buffets and BBQs at community and corporate events.

Princess Pavilions & Gyllyngdune Gardens

Princess Pavilions is Falmouth’s dedicated events venue — used for conferences, weddings, comedy nights, and private hire. The adjoining Gyllyngdune Gardens offer a sheltered outdoor space that works well for summer catering, garden party buffets, and reception drinks with grazing platters.

Private Venues, Gardens & Holiday Homes

Not every event happens at a formal venue. We deliver to and set up at private homes, holiday cottages, and gardens across Gyllyngvase, Swanpool, Maenporth, and the residential streets above the harbour. We also cover village halls and community centres in the surrounding villages — Budock, Mawnan Smith, Mabe, and Constantine. If there’s road access and space for us to work, we can cater there.

Not Just Weddings and Parties

We cater for everything in Falmouth. Corporate lunches for businesses around the town centre. Funeral wakes and memorial gatherings handled with care and dignity. Christmas party catering when the office wants something better than a supermarket platter. Film and TV crew catering for productions shooting around the south Cornwall coast. University events and end-of-year celebrations at Falmouth University and Penryn Campus. And emergency catering and welfare support — we’ve worked alongside National Grid during power outages and severe weather, feeding communities and frontline crews.

Why Salt Wind?

We’re 5-star food hygiene rated, FSB members, and NCASS registered. Freshly prepared in our Redruth kitchen using locally sourced Cornish produce — no packet food, no shortcuts. We handle delivery, and setup so you can actually enjoy your own event. And because we’re based in Redruth, we’re just 20 minutes from your door.

We’ve provided catering support for organisations including the NHS, National Grid, Cornwall Council, WWF, and Savills — the kind of clients who need reliability, professionalism, and food that doesn’t let them down. We bring everything we need to your venue. Our hog roast and BBQ setups are fully self-contained — we don’t need your venue’s power, water, or kitchen facilities. We set up, we cook, we serve, we clear, and we leave the space as we found it.

Corporate & Business Catering in Falmouth

Falmouth has a growing professional community — between the university, the creative industries cluster, the maritime sector, and the tourism businesses along the waterfront. That means there’s steady demand for reliable business catering — working lunch buffets for offices around Church Street and Market Street, conference catering at Princess Pavilions, and team away-day food for companies across the town.

We offer everything from simple platter deliveries for boardroom meetings to full hot buffets and hog roasts for company summer events and Christmas parties. If you’re organising something for the office and want better than supermarket platters, get in touch — we can usually turn corporate orders around within a few days.

Working Lunches & Meeting Catering

Need to feed a team of 10 for a strategy day? Or a boardroom of 30 for a client presentation? We deliver fresh, homemade buffets and platter selections directly to your office or meeting room. Our corporate menus include hot and cold options, and we always accommodate dietary requirements without needing to be chased.

Company Events & Away Days

For bigger occasions — summer BBQs in the hotel gardens, Christmas parties, team away days, or client hospitality events — we bring the full outdoor catering setup. Hog roasts, charcoal BBQs, and giant pan cooking all work brilliantly for corporate events where you want to impress without the formality of a sit-down dinner.

Frequently Asked Questions — Catering in Falmouth

How far in advance should I book catering for a Falmouth event?

For weddings and large events, we recommend at least 4–6 weeks. For buffets and platters, we can often accommodate bookings with just a few days’ notice. For grazing platters, we offer same-day and next-day delivery across Falmouth and the surrounding area.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Every menu we put together accommodates vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests as standard. If you have specific allergies or requirements, let us know when you enquire and we’ll build the menu around them.

Can you cater at Pendennis Castle?

Yes. We’ve set up at Pendennis Castle and other English Heritage sites. Our hog roast and BBQ equipment is fully self-contained — we don’t need mains power or kitchen access. As long as there’s vehicle access to the setup area, we can cater there.

What’s the minimum order or guest count?

There’s no minimum for buffets and grazing platters — we cater for groups as small as 10. For hog roasts, you’ll typically need around 60 guests to make a whole hog worthwhile, but we can do smaller pig options for groups of 30+.

How do you handle Falmouth’s narrow streets and parking?

We’ve been catering in Falmouth for years and know the access routes, the one-way system, and the loading restrictions. We plan delivery routes in advance and always arrive with enough time to navigate the town centre. For harbour-area events, we coordinate vehicle access with the venue beforehand.

Do you provide plates, cutlery, and napkins?

Yes. All our catering includes biodegradable plates, cutlery, napkins, and serving equipment as standard. If you’d prefer proper crockery for a more formal event, we can arrange that too.

How much does catering in Falmouth cost?

It depends on the service, guest count, and menu. Grazing platters start from around £30, buffets from around £8–12 per head, and hog roasts vary by size. Every quote is tailored — request a free quote and we’ll price it up for you.

Do you cater for events outside Falmouth?

Absolutely. We cover the whole of Cornwall and into Devon. Falmouth is one of our most regular delivery areas, but we regularly travel to Truro, Newquay, Bodmin, Penzance, and everywhere in between. If you can tell us the postcode, we can tell you whether we cover it — and in most cases the answer is yes.
